Psychics?
So I’m not quite sure what to make of psychics. I mean I believe in paranormal stuff but fortune telling always seemed kinda fake to me. I mean they make sweeping generalizations about things and therefore they sound convincing. However, there must be some truth to it, right?
My mom told me a story about how my grandma went to a fortune teller with some friends. The lady told my grandma she would marry a man from the east coast(she eventually married my grandpa, a man from massachusetts) then told her friend that she didnt want to say her fortune. Eventually, they got the answer out of her. The fortune teller said my grandma’s friend wouldn’t live past 20…she didn’t.
Because of that, I have been a little afraid of what someone would tell me if I went. Would I have good fortunes or would I find out when I will die? I wasn’t sure.
Well, today I went with my Big to the SB Fair and Expo and we decided to have our fortunes told. I decided to get a tarot, palm and psychic reading done. I’m going to outline everything she told me below:
1. My life line on my palm is very long, ensuring that I will live well into my 80s and possibly early 90s.
2. I will be active in my old age because I WANT to, not because I have to.
3. I like to be very involved with stuff but it stretches me too thin. Like right now, she said I’m overworked and I’m busy caring from everyone else instead of caring for my needs. She also said I haven’t felt relaxed or slept well in 6-8 months (true).
4. She said I have a lavender aura which is associated with healing. She said that I have psychic abilities which are not yet fully recognized and offered to train me in order to be able to use them (might be a hoax but it made me feel good). I mean I’m very empathetic and used to be sensitive to energies but I haven’t had any experiences in awhile.
5. There’s someone in my life who really likes me but is afraid to tell me because he is not sure what my reaction will be. He supposedly has dreamed about me twice in the past month and will be ready to tell me at the end of June.
6. I will be married at age 29 and will have a son first and then a daughter right after I am married.
7. The man who will confess his feelings for me will introduce me to my future husband (awkward love triangle)
8. I have a lot of tension in my solarplexis area because I am more stressed than what is considered normal. It has a muddier aura than the rest of me. This stress also causes me to act a lot different than I usually do.
I mean I’m still not 100% sure what to believe but I have to hope in what this psychic told me. She definitely made me feel a lot better after talking to her.

UCLA chick rant
Okay, first off I am half Asian and yes I am offended by what she said. It’s not so much the “ohhhhh ching chong ling long ting tong ohhhhh” as much as the singling out of Asian people at the beginning of her rant. She was complaining about how Asian people always have their families come on the weekends and they can’t take care of themselves. Okay, well, maybe some of us are close to our families and actually ENJOY spending time with them instead of just seeing them during breaks and stuff.
I also love how she also said “don’t take offense to any of this.” Umm…you just singled out an ethnic group of people, why wouldn’t I take offense to that? Honestly, if you’re going to rant about people talking on the phone in the library, don’t expand it to include other things that Asian people do. In addition, one guy posted a response vlog (which I absolutely loved!) pointing out that the whole “ching chong….” is directed at Chinese people and then she brought up the tsunami in Japan. Really?
“Being the nice, polite American girl my mother raised me to be…” Okay, polite? nice? This is why you’re posting an online rant about how annoyed you are with Asian people not having “American manners?” Seriously, text it to your friends or call your mom and talk to her (I hope in a library :P) but don’t put it on the internet. Putting ANYTHING on the internet can get you into serious trouble. Adding to that….what does “American girl” have to do with anything?! You can be British and what you said will still have pissed people off. Maybe being American is your excuse? I’m American and I admit that I’m not polite in some situations but instead of posting it on Youtube, I bitch to my friends over text message or make myself as obnoxious as possible.
Okay, so if by some chance, this chick is reading this (highly doubt it):
This is the way you should have done the rant:
“I really really really hate it when PEOPLE (see? not just Asians. People. I’ve seen people of all ethnic backgrounds use their cell phones in the libraries.) use their phones in the library, especially during finals week. If you get a call and NEED to talk right now, please take it outside. I really don’t want to hear about your business and I need to study for my finals. I understand that there are certain situations such as family emergencies but I would appreciate it if you did not talk on a phone in the library. Thank you.”
Done. I didn’t offend anyone (I don’t think) but I got my point across.
Its hard to pretend you love someone when you don’t but its harder to pretend that you don’t love someone when you really do.
